President James Duderstadt established the President’s Advisory Commission on Women’s Issues (PACWI) in 1989 to provide recommendations to University leaders on issues of access, equity, and success for women. PACWI continues to offer insight and advice on a wide range of issues that concern women students, faculty and staff. The objective of the Commission is to help women achieve full and equal participation in all aspects of life and leadership at the University of Michigan. PACWI promotes the development of new policies, practices, and procedures designed to enhance gender and racial equity. PACWI meets regularly throughout the academic year. The membership includes faculty, staff and student representatives from across the Ann Arbor campus who are appointed by the President of the University. [link to membership page] The Commission is chaired by Carol Hollenshead, Director of the Center for the Education of Women (CEW). Beth Sullivan of CEW provides staff support to the Commission. If you have an issue you would like to share with the Commission, please contact Beth Sullivan, at bsulliva@umich.edu Key data demonstrate the need for, and value of, PACWI efforts:
