Since 1989, the President’s Advisory Commission on Women’s Issues (PACWI) has provided recommendations to University leaders on a wide range of issues affecting women students, faculty, and staff. The objective of the Commission is to help women achieve full and equal participation in all aspects of life and leadership at the University of Michigan. PACWI promotes the development of new policies, practices, and procedures designed to enhance gender and racial equity.

PACWI meets regularly throughout the academic year. The membership includes faculty, staff, and student representatives from across the Ann Arbor campus who are appointed by the President of the University. The Commission is chaired by Dr. Gloria Thomas, Director of the Center for the Education of Women (CEW). Beth Sullivan of CEW provides staff support to the Commission. If you have an issue you would like to share with PACWI, please contact Beth Sullivan.
