March 29, 2021 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Virtual

Presenters: Annie Strickland, MSW Candidate & CEW+ Counseling Intern; and Danielle Norman, MSW Candidate & CEW+ Management Intern

We invite you to join us to discuss the importance of self-care, especially during this time of collective stress and heightened difficulty balancing concerns, obligations, and priorities.

In this 1 ½ hour workshop, we will cover topics such as the importance of self-care, how to make time for self-care, and create a self-care plan. This workshop will mostly focus on individual reflection and planning, requiring minimal interaction between participants. We hope you leave with tangible knowledge, resources, and next steps to feel better prepared to incorporate self-care in your daily life. In this workshop, you will:

  • Practice mindful self-care
  • Learn what self-care is and why it is important
  • Strategize time management skills to incorporate self-care into your daily routine
  • Create a self-care plan

Annie Strickland is a Master of Social Work candidate studying Interpersonal Practice and Health. She currently serves as Counseling Intern at CEW+ where she speaks with folks about career and educational goals. Annie is passionate about supporting folks as they navigate changes and transitions in their lives. Self-care matters to Annie because making time for herself allows her to show up for others. Throughout the pandemic, Annie has relied on walks, art, journaling, and baking to maintain her routine and balance work and life from home.

Danielle Norman is a Master of Social Work candidate studying Management of Human Services with a concentration in Community & Social Systems. She currently supports the CEW+ Development, Marketing and Communications team as well as the CEW+ Scholar Community Advisory Board. Danielle hopes to learn how to apply project management skills in social justice and community engagement contexts to affect positive change in larger social and community systems. Throughout the pandemic, self-care has helped Danielle to take on each day one at a time and to manage an increased amount of responsibilities in this new virtual world. Danielle practices self-care by setting strict boundaries between work and leisure time, as well as taking the time to connect with friends and family.
