GETTING STARTED

2015-16 Advanced Leadership Program Application Now Available

The Center for the Education of Women (CEW) is now accepting nominations for participants in its 2015-2016 Advanced Leadership Program (ALP). Completed applications must be received by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, July 21, 2015.

After residing at CEW for many years, plans are in place for ALP to transition to University Human Resources for 2016-2017. As this comprehensive leadership program transitions to join and be integrated with the leadership process and programs supported by University Human Resources, the UHR staff stands ready to honor ALP’s past, sustain its quality and to seek ways to enhance its impact.

The ALP experience offers U-M staff the unique opportunity to further develop their leadership skills through active participation in focused discussions on organizational development that are supplemented by assigned readings and small group discussion. Executive and senior-level University administrators and organizational development consultants lead the workshop sessions. Participants are also required to create an independent project that must engage the principles of leadership and systems change management.

The topics that will be offered as part of the 2015-2016 ALP curriculum include: Leadership, Vision & Values; U-M Organization and Culture; Emotional Intelligence in Leadership; Organizational Change Leadership; Multicultural Communication; and Positive Organizational Structure.

Please nominate employees with the capacity for influence and decision-making in their jobs, supervisory responsibility or oversight of a major initiative, and the potential to advance in their career field by participating in this leadership development program. Additional information about the Advanced Leadership Program, including the 2015-2016 ALP schedule, is provided on the following website:  http://www.cew.umich.edu/faculty-staff/ldrship.htm

In assembling the 2015-2016 ALP cohort, CEW will consider diversity of experience, representation across University units, and merit as reflected in the application. Candidates will be notified of their selection via email on Monday, August 24, 2015. ALP is supported by University Human Resources and the U-M Health System Human Resources Department.
