President Mary Sue Coleman to introduce Dr. Mae Jemison at the WCTF career conference on March 7, 2014

The Women of Color Task Force will host its 32nd annual career conference on March 7, 2014. Attendees may select from over 30 workshop sessions designed to support their professional and personal development. This event is open to all U-M personnel (staff, faculty, and students) and to the general public.  Conference registration will close at 5 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014.

 

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Mae Jemison, former NASA astronaut and current principal of the 100 Year Starship Project, an initiative designed to make human interstellar travel a reality by 2112.  Dr. Jemison was the first woman of color in the world to go into space aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour, and was a NASA astronaut for six years.  She will be introduced by U-M President Mary Sue Coleman. Special remarks will also be given by Senior Vice Provost Lester Monts and Janice Innis-Thompson, Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Ethics Officer for TIAA-CREF.

Dr. Jemison earned her B.S., Chemical Engineering and fulfilled requirements for A.B., African and Afro-American Studies from Stanford University, and received her M.D. from Cornell University.

Conference Registration and Payment

Please note that once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation via email. If you do not receive the confirmation, your registration did not go through.

  • UM Staff and UM Faculty: $120.00 – Special discount available for U-M departments that send 3 or more people to the conference – see Group Rates below!
  • UM Students and UM Retirees: $75.00 – Prior to registering, please send an email to the CEW office ([email protected]) to request a coupon code for the UM student/retiree discount.
  • Non-UM Attendees: $120.00

Payment by check or money order:  Please send payments to CEW no later than Feburary 24, 2014. There is a $35.00 returned check/money order fee.

Onsite registration and payments: There will be limited onsite registration on the morning of the conference. Attendees may only pay for onsite conference registration by shortcode, cash, check or money order.Credit cards will not be accepted for onsite registration. Please note that onsite fee does not guarantee lunch. ($150.00 onsite fee for all persons)

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Registration has been extended to 5 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014

CANCELLATIONS: No registrations can be cancelled after February 24, 2014.



Group Rates:

If one UM department will be sending 3 or more persons to the WCTF conference, please follow this process to receive a $20 discount for each person.

A. Complete the registration process for each staff member. (Staff may register themselves as long as they are included on the submitted list.)

B. Next, the administrator must email a list of the staff who are attending the conference to the CEW Finance Assistant, Wanlada Ault, at [email protected].

C. CEW will apply the discount after registration closes, based on the submitted list and the department recorded on registration. A receipt for the transactions will be forwarded to the person listed as the authorized signer for the department.
