GETTING STARTED

Shannon Wronski

Shannon aims to be a supportive mentor and a source of inspiration for young minds, helping them grow into successful and confident adults.

Shannon Wronski is a devoted mother of four and a determined college student in the University of Michigan-Dearborn’s School of Education. After high school, Shannon worked as a licensed cosmetologist until she married her husband and started a family in Brooklyn, NY. She writes that she “fell in love” with raising her children and especially with being involved in their education, taking every opportunity to volunteer at their schools.

Shannon knew she wanted to teach, but she initially believed that college wasn’t an option for her. However, with the encouragement and support of her husband and friends, she decided to return to school in her thirties when her family moved back to her home state of Michigan. Shannon has already overcome barriers while pursuing her education, demonstrating remarkable resilience. She is a full-time caregiver to four children, aged between two and 11 years old. Shannon also became her father’s full-time caregiver after he developed dementia. Sadly, she lost her father shortly after giving birth to her youngest daughter in 2021. But Shannon resolved not to give up on her degree, driven by her desire to be a role model for her children and to honor her mother and father’s pride in her education.

Looking ahead, Shannon envisions graduating and becoming a student teacher in the fall of 2024. Her long-term plan includes securing a teaching position and later pursuing a master’s degree in education. She believes that shaping the minds of future generations is a profound responsibility, and her goal as a certified teacher is to make a positive difference in her students’ lives. Shannon aims to be a supportive mentor and a source of inspiration for young minds, helping them grow into successful and confident adults.

CEW+ commends Shannon’s passion for education and names her a Molly Hunter Dobson Scholar.
