This magazine celebrates the many ways in which the CEW+ community has come together to support one another. We depend on the collaborative efforts of our staff, donors, students, and community members sharing their unique talents, abilities, and resources to uplift those who are underserved in the U-M and broader community. We are deeply grateful to our donors, whose generous contributions have allowed us to offer the vital programming showcased in this issue, including our advocacy work, the Carol Hollenshead Inspire Awards, CEW+ Scholarships and Fellowships, and the Constance M. Kinnear Counseling Internship Program.

I also extend my heartfelt appreciation to those in the CEW+ community who devote their time and energy to encouraging and mentoring students. While financial aid is essential, students need more than monetary support alone to succeed in their academic and professional pursuits. As someone who has experienced the power of mentorship, I know the impact it can have on a student’s trajectory. In my own life, I am grateful for the encouragement of Pat Natalie who inspired me to attend graduate school at U-M, and for the many mentors who believed in and challenged me to “put my hat in the ring” when the ring looked too intimidating.

At CEW+, we provide the same kind of encouragement to students. Our CEW+ Scholarships and Fellowships not only provide crucial financial support but also affirm students’ potential, giving them the confidence to attain their aspirations. The stories of our CEW+ Scholars in this issue illustrate the transformative impact of these awards and the ways in which they have helped students realize their goals. I know you will be inspired by the stories of CEW+ alumnae who have now become mentors themselves, helping students and young professionals achieve their full potential. Giving to CEW+ has a ripple effect: your gifts help our scholars become leaders in their fields, where in turn they will empower others.

CEW+ brings together people from diverse backgrounds, but we share a common mission to make someone else’s path easier. We extend our gratitude for the generosity that makes our work possible. We are proud to showcase the impact of this support in this issue. As we move forward, we remain committed to our mission of empowering those who are underserved, and we invite you to join us in this important work. Together, we can build a more equitable future.
