Daniel Goodwin

CEW+ applauds Daniel’s commitment to making a difference through mathematics and names her an Irma M. Wyman Scholar.

Daniel Goodwin is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in general studies with a strong commitment to giving back to society. Prior to enrolling at a four-year university, Daniel immersed herself in multiple fields at a community college. Despite encountering various challenges on her educational journey, Daniel persevered and graduated with the highest honors in multiple majors.

During her time at the community college, Daniel played a significant role in her community as a leader of the student veteran organization. In this capacity, she offered invaluable legal resources and services to fellow student veterans and their spouses, all with the aim of upholding dignity and justice for all. Additionally, Daniel served as a legal intern at the trial court, where she drafted legal documents, provided assistance, and disseminated crucial information to the public. Her unwavering belief that everyone deserves access to justice has driven her to tirelessly work towards making this belief a reality, especially for underserved communities.

Now, Daniel continues to actively engage as a tutor and has plans to collaborate with local organizations to promote STEM education. Her goal is to inspire more students to pursue careers in mathematics and related fields. In her own career aspirations, Daniel aims to deepen her understanding in the realm of mathematics and numbers. Her vision for success in the STEM field involves becoming an expert in solving fundamental problems that enhance our understanding of the universe and provide solutions to complex real-world challenges, including but not limited to climate change, healthcare, and energy sustainability. Described by her professor as “intelligent, cooperative, friendly, collaborative,” Daniel is sure to make an impact in her communities.
