GETTING STARTED

Elaine LaFavor

[Elaine] is committed to shaping and representing a company that is leading the way for other businesses in using sustainable approaches and creating a healthier environment for everyone.

Elaine LaFavor is a dedicated student parent who has persisted time and again in pursuing her dreams. Throughout the years of her husband’s deployments and military obligations and raising four children, Elaine enrolled in college whenever she could, determined to continue even when breaks were necessary. Over the most recent break in her education, Elaine homeschooled her four children and, with her husband, built over half of her home with her own hands.

Now, Elaine is enrolled full-time at the University of Michigan-Flint and is earning her bachelor’s degree in marketing, intent on showing her children that they can make their dreams come true with tenacity and perseverance. She has maintained a 4.0 GPA, and she was recently inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honor Society, which represents the top 10% of business students throughout the world. She has also been invited to join the National Honor Society. Her professor remarks that she is in the “top 0.01%” of students due to her “diligence, hard work, and above all her interest to learn from her mistakes.”

Elaine intends to use her marketing degree to pursue a career that allows her to be creative and entrepreneurial, building on her and her husband’s success in building their own home. She plans to grow a construction business that “will ensure our customers have the best-built homes filled with love, hard work, and expert craftsmanship.” She is committed to shaping and representing a company that is leading the way for other businesses in using sustainable approaches and creating a healthier environment for everyone.

CEW+ applauds Elaine’s persistence in her education and her vision for her business and names her a Molly Hunter Dobson Scholar.
