Fall Welcome & Open House for Nontraditional Students, September 13. Enjoy this opportunity to meet other students with similar stories and learn more about events and opportunities that the CEW provides.

Free Community Screening of Award-Winning Documentary: Little Stones, September 13. Little Stones weaves together the personal stories of four women artists, from across the world, who dedicate their lives to empowering women and survivors of gender based violence to express and help eradicate the atrocities of domestic violence, human trafficking, extreme poverty, and female genital mutilation, with their unique art form.

Canvas 101 for U-M Students: Using Canvas in your classes, September 21. Interested in learning some tips and tricks about how to use Canvas? This session will include an overview of Canvas followed by Q & A. You are welcome to bring your own device to login to your Canvas site.

Channeling Your Nontraditional Strengths: Articulating your Resilience and Experiences as 21st Century Marketable Skills, October 18. What sets you apart from the rest of the pool? Come together to reflect on the 21st Century marketable soft skills you possess and work towards landing those opportunities!

Designing a Contemporary Resume, October 26. Designing a contemporary resume requires career exploration and awareness. This workshop will provide tools to transform your college experiences to be applicable to a professional market. Specific attention will be given to professional branding and identity development beyond the classroom.

Job Search Strategies and Mindfulness, October 30. This workshop will provide contemporary strategies for searching for jobs, including online resources and utilizing networks, along with techniques for staying grounded and relaxed during times of anxiety and uncertainty that often accompany this process.

Spectrum of Advocacy & Activism Symposium: Finding Your Voice, November 15. This one-day symposium focuses on advocacy and activism training and includes presentations by local and national advocacy experts who have taken varied approaches to advocacy in ways that best leverage their current context (power, privilege and identity). Training sessions will feature capacity-building workshops on a range of topics from community organizing to bystander intervention to running for political office. Registration coming September 15th!

Supporting Nontraditional Student Success, November 21. This will be an interactive session for students, faculty, staff, and program administrators to discuss the emerging needs of nontraditional students at the U-M and the strategies that can be implemented to create a more welcoming, supportive, and inclusive campus climate.

Career Identity Beyond the Ivory Tower, November 29. Making the decision to switch from a possible tenure-track path to pursue other career options may raise a variety of career and personal considerations. This program will offer you an opportunity to explore the often emotional move away from a tenure-track career and provide resources for taking a next step.

CEW Study Space & End of the Term Lunch & Recharge, December 13. CEW is opening its doors to all nontraditional students to create study spaces and provide self-care activities & healthy snacks. There will also be a social hour with lunch from 12:30-1:30pm in our CEW library.
